Building a high-performing agile team to launch a new health portal.
- Context: Memorial Hermann, one of the largest health systems in Texas, set out to create a new consumer-centric digital portal to unify patient and insurance experiences.
- Role: As digital team leader, I was tasked with starting a “greenfield” web and app development team from scratch.
- Approach: Recruited a cross-functional team of experts, defined the product vision and feature set, selected the technology stack, and led the team using agile and human-centered design principles.
- Impact: Delivered a minimum viable product portal in just 9 months, on schedule and with strong early adoption, while establishing a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- What I Learned: The right team culture and disciplined agile practices can accelerate transformation even in complex, regulated industries like healthcare.
